Friday Night Shoppers Gala & Street Performers. There is a disconnect here. Much anticipation from retailers and punters – and not a few families with youngsters in tow – in town to enjoy the festivities. As I move about with camera and tripod – no doubt looking somewhat official – folk approach asking what’s happening. I have to admit I don’t know. The lone stiltwalker pair provide momentary fun. The ‘throng’ drifts away quickly – home or to the dancing at the town hall – an opportunity lost. Here Mai and her niece wait patiently for customers at the Lunch Box.
