My image file server is undergoing maintenance. This means that a lot of the images on my site are temporarily unavailable. Things should be back to normal by about 11:00pm.

Zenfolio the database I use to serve the majority of images to my site is currently down for regular maintenance. This work should be complete by midnight – apologies for the inconvenience.

Last Friday, the 26th of June 2009, Zenfolio the image storage facility I use was upgraded to include an embed slideshow function. Great, it works really well – but as this site is hosted by WordPress.com I can’t just pop the code straight into a post. So for those who wish to know such things…

Much as I like the old theme I take the point that you can take minimalism a bit too far. The new theme is OK, not exactly what I would prefer, but you can now navigate around the site with ease.

My website is a decade old this (southern) spring. It exists primarily to showcase my photography. Photography is my livelihood. I have blogged off and on since 2004 alongside other projects notably this and this. As regular visitors may be aware my site crashed about ten days ago. This experience has had me rethinking my hosting options. I have decided to make a move. This will probably take two to three weeks to research, plan and carry out. In the meantime I am not going to publish any new posts.…

Changes made over the weekend to SiteMeter are being reversed. ReadWriteWeb comments. I loaded the new site and spent 10 minutes trying to understand it. It was not good. Update: Normal service resumes 12:24 15/09/08.

Visits for July (840) and August (752) now see my daily visitor numbers averaging about 25. I am happy. Before launching my Google friendly quest at the end of June I was averaging 10 or so visits a day. These 1598 visitors viewed 5301 pages which is very satisfying for 60 odd days.

As noted elsewhere viewing the ‘lighbox’ gallery can be a bit of a problem with Internet Explorer. This is what should happen. In the screenshot above the cursor arrow sits on the first thumbnail (you can choose any thumbnail). Clicking on the thumbnail results in the full sized image appearing above the page (as below).…

One of those things. I am showing off the marvel that is a dynamic website and am confronted with a search box problem. Multiple renditions of the same post are being returned with some search queries. I have done a little testing and it seems to happen when there are more than twenty or so…
