Avantidrome Pukeroro Cambridge

Ellesse Andrews medal winner at the 2016 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships at the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland. Ellesse, a student at St Peter’s School, won gold with teammate Emma Cumming in the Team Sprint and bronze in the 2km Individual Pursuit. Ellesse’s Dad, former Olympic and Commonwealth games representative Jon Andrews, is sprint coach for the New Zealand Junior Track Team.

Green belt at Thornton Road Cambridge New Zealand

Competitive cyclists returning to town after a hill climb competition on Maungakawa Road Fencourt pass through Cambridge green belt / town belt via Thornton Road. Included in the original survey of Cambridge our Town Belt forms a buffer between Cambridge and surrounding country districts.  Cambridge Town Belt [PDF] is approximately 284 hectares and encircles both Cambridge and Leamington. Town Belt land not in recreational use is leased for grazing and cropping.

Young cyclists with Olympian Sarah Ulmer at the first Cambridge Twilight Cycling Festival Lake Street Cambridge New Zealand. The CBD circuit (of just under 1km) is; south on Victoria Street through the big roundabout to Commerce Street, around into Duke Street, back to Victoria and north to the small (clock) roundabout and so on again.

Te Awa The Great NZ River Ride

Opened today; the Browning  &  Carlyle Streets corner with Maungatautari Road Leamington to Lake Karapiro Domain section of Te Awa The Great NZ River Ride. Te Awa walkway cycle way extends some 70km along the Waikato River from Ngaruawahia ( downstream to the northwest) to Horahora (upstream to the east).
