The Awards continue to grow with this, the second year in a row that tickets have sold out….

Cambridge Chamber of Commerce committee member Michael Blake speaks at this evening’s Business After 5 (ba5) at the Cambridge Club in Dick Street, Cambridge. Tonight the final divvy up of countries in the adopt a country promotion Cambridge businesses are undertaking in support of the World Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro in October and November 2010. The result of a silent auction and final draw will see both teams and visitors welcomed to Cambridge and surrounding businesses with retail displays and activities.

The brief was to photograph the Cambridge window displays for the 2010 New Zealand Rowing Championships at Lake Karapiro last week. I expanded the project just a tad. Karapiro Rowing’s Cambridge Town Cup regatta begins about now (this year it incorporates the North Island Rowing Championships) at Lake Karapiro, today, Friday the 29th of January 2010. The regatta continues tomorrow Saturday the 30th and concludes on Sunday the 31st of January 2010. The Cambridge Fine Wine Company owners Andy and Nikki Anderson and Cambridge CBD neighbours Carey King and Kerrin O’Regan of Cambridge Computer Services – that’s Carey in the photo – are sponsors of the rowing event along with other Cambridge businesses.

Speakers, Peter Gates Hamilton Business Improvement District, and Kiri Goulter, Regional Tourism Manager, based at Hamilton International Airport were guests this morning at the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce – Business Breakfast at Onyx Café, 70 Alpha Street in the Cambridge CBD. The subject – Destination Cambridge – the possible establishment of a professional Mainstreet type town centre development organisation to promote Cambridge.
