Our clock was originally a feature of Cambridge Post Office (1908) – the building now home to Alpino Cucina & Vino. The P.O. clock tower was damaged during the Napier earthquake (1931) and subsequently dismantled. The current tower was built in Jubilee Gardens and the clock installed in 1934.

Cambridge clock lit in the Tricolour to celebrate Bastille Day 2016 and the friendship between Cambridge and Le Quesnoy; a bond forged in WW1. The immediacy of the Bastille Day tragedy in Nice, when this photograph was made on a cold winter evening, adding a sad and reflective significance to the gesture.

Waipa District Council branded balloons with the tagline Home of Champions, a variation on the slogan Cambridge: The Town of Trees & Champions; itself a conflation of the Cambridge Borough Council The Town of Trees promotional byline used before local body amalgamation saw Cambridge become part of Waipa District in 1989. The balloons are for the welcome home parade for local Olympians who attended the 2008 Beijing Olympics earlier in August. And others.
