Interesting if somewhat academic.
Not quite sure what I was expecting. A wit has placed some of the numerous road safety cones about the Victoria Road SH1 Queen Street roundabout on the almost as numerous up lights. Nothing new about this. Just the scale of the installation. I couldn’t get what I wanted (one might say because of a lack of conceptual focus). Methinks not so much surreal as disneyesque. This I might add is the middle of the night timestamp 12:07AM. And it was cold.

Nice.
Wasn’t it just an excellent celebration. And cheers to the industry for recognising Straitjacket Fits. Mr Carter put it so well.

Visiting us today Robbie Mac, enthusiastic and full of folksy charm, to introduce his candidacy in the general election. Robbie is standing in the Taupo Electorate as an independent candidate.
One of Robbie’s causes is support for binding citizen generated referenda.
You can contact Robbie at 6/40 Green’s Landing, Nukuhau, Taupo 3330.
Good luck Robbie.
Update 11/09/2008: The only other Taupo candidate I have managed to photograph so far is National Party candidate Louise Upston. Good luck Louise.
To take RAW seriously and stop mucking using it infrequently. I must, I must do some serious study and experimenting. Thanks GRINZ for the link.

This is something I have done – partaken of – in bits and bobs since 2004. With the move to the WordPress.com servers, Domain mapping to the same and a move from Gmail to Google Apps – BTW looks and acts the same – I seem to be right in the middle of it.
The trick is a work flow that suits each step and learning to admit defeat, quickly, when the next bright shiny idea/widget doesn’t gel. Give and take is the saying.
Cloud computing a Wikipedia explanation. And Stephen Fry, yes that Stephen Fry, weighs in. I don’t understand the terms and conditions on Stephen’s blog so here we have a cut and paste instead of the usual live link.
When I was looking around for a feed of the VP debate yesterday afternoon I came upon this. It is as simple an explanation for keeping up with browser development as I have seen.

Cute and waterproof. Fits in the coin pocket of my jeans. Looks a little noisy at 400ISO. All in all a nice package. For seriously knowledgeable reviews try dpreview and cameralabs. 10MP. Retails for around $NZ600.00+.
These photographs, from the collection of the United States Library of Congress, are hugely influential in informing my own photograph making.

As regular visitors may be aware my site crashed about ten days ago. This experience has had me rethinking my hosting options. I have decided to make a move. This will probably take two to three weeks to research, plan and carry out.
In the meantime I am not going to publish any new posts. I will resume after the change over.
When I have a beta version of the new site running I will direct you to it as it will feature some new stuff. Both sites will combine at the change over.
My web address will not change.
If you wish to email me please use my backup email address michaeljeans*AT*gmail.com as my main email may suffer some outages along the way.
Note: If you are looking for photos of the start of the Cambridge Hamilton Kayak and Cruise (14/09/08) please email me.
Changes made over the weekend to SiteMeter are being reversed. ReadWriteWeb comments. I loaded the new site and spent 10 minutes trying to understand it. It was not good.
Update: Normal service resumes 12:24 15/09/08.
