Waikato Expressway Karapiro Cambridge New Zealand 1/9/2013

Golf Course Hill Karapiro Cambridge

Golf Course Hill Karapiro Cambridge September 2013

At the Southern interchange [PDF] of the Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway. The southern most point of the Waikato expressway for now. From here, once completed, one will drive, unimpeded, on the dual carriageway expressway or motorway until confronted by Auckland traffic some 130 odd kilometres away to the north. We are on the layby at the top of what we know locally as Golf Course Hill (SH1 Tirau Road) looking roughly (very roughly nor’nor’westerly) in the direction of the corner of Thornton Road and St Kilda Road Fencourt.

The first recorded reference to a bowling club in Leamington was in the Waikato Independent on the 10th of February 1921, when there was a move to form a club.

Cooper’s Run @ Waipa 150 Lake Karapiro 6/2/2014 20:03

Husband and wife team Michael & Ashley Tiping: Cooper’s Run

An evening lakeside concert. Headline act Cooper’s Run Michael and Ashley Tiping supported by John Dill (drums), Jack Wallis (guitar) and Shane Reha (bass). I didn’t see the entire concert, arriving as I did, part way through Anna Hawkins’ set. What I did see; Anna Hawkins, the Muffins and Cooper’s Run was excellent. Just a pity the audience was a tad minimalist. Perfect setting, perfect weather, good music and we all now know that the sports women of Iona College rock!
