The trailer and lollpops still happen! But Friday late night shopping isn’t what it used to be (the rather unsubtle comment implicit in this photo). Attempts to resurrect it – in the lead up to Christmas fall very short – too many retail opportunities these days. Besides the man in the red suit made a ‘traditional’ appearance to much acclaimation from his many fans not 24 hours later in the annual street parade.

Wow, thirty plus years of absence can really play merry hell with my recollections of my home town… Who is the fat guy in the red suit with the beard? Don’t remember him walking, he always was on a trailer giving out lollipops when I was a kid.
